2025 First Grilling

In Japan, from New Year's day many activities are repeated. So they are denoted by the first activity of the year e.g. New Year's Party or such as the first visit to a temple or shrine, Hatsumode. My first grilled item of 2025 were crab legs, which I grilled on New Year's Day.

In Tokyo, most of the crab legs available in supermarket or dept. stores are boiled then frozen. Crab in Japan is caught in the Japan Sea or in the north Japan, near Hokkaido. Although frozen crab legs taste great after grilling, I want to grill fresh crab legs this year and am planning a trip to the Japan Sea side facing prefectures for fresh crab.
